CONTEMPORARY CONSERVATORY ROOFING
Conservatory roofing questions, clearly answered.
Start with the questions that matter to your home. The details of a replacement roof should be agreed after the existing structure and proposed design have been assessed.
Your replacement roof questions
Can my conservatory roof be replaced without replacing the whole conservatory?
A roof-only replacement may be possible if the existing frames, supports and foundations are suitable. The roof design and its loads need to be assessed before a specification can be agreed. Send us the dimensions and photographs to start the discussion.
What is the difference between a solid roof and a tiled conservatory roof?
Solid roof describes an opaque, insulated roof construction. Tiled describes its outside finish. A tiled conservatory roof is usually a type of solid roof; the tiles alone do not describe the insulation, structure or ventilation beneath them.
Will an insulated roof make my conservatory warmer in winter?
An insulated replacement roof can reduce heat loss through the roof. The temperature of the room also depends on its windows, doors, floor, ventilation and heating. A roof replacement alone is not a promise of a particular room temperature or energy saving.
Will I lose daylight with a solid conservatory roof?
Replacing transparent roof panels with a solid roof changes how daylight enters the conservatory and any adjoining room. Rooflights can introduce overhead light where the design allows. Discuss their size and position alongside the existing windows and the way you use the room.
Does a replacement solid roof need building regulations approval?
LABC’s homeowner guidance says a building regulations application is required when an existing translucent conservatory roof is replaced with a solid roof. The structure and proposed work must be assessed. Confirm the applicable route with your building control body before work starts.
Is planning permission the same as building regulations approval?
No. Planning permission and building regulations are separate checks. The planning position depends on the property, any existing conditions and the proposed changes. Do not assume that an exemption for the original conservatory covers a new solid roof. Check with the local planning authority and building control body.
How long does a conservatory roof replacement take?
The programme depends on the roof, access, weather, structural work and finishing. Ask for a project-specific schedule covering removal, weatherproofing, roof installation, plastering and drying time. We agree arrangements once the scope is understood.
How much does a conservatory roof replacement cost?
The cost depends on the dimensions, roof shape, structural suitability, access, rooflights and interior work. Our cost guide explains what to include when comparing estimates. A confirmed quotation follows an assessment and agreement of the specification.
Who carries out the work and handles my enquiry?
Contemporary Conservatory Roofing is the specialist conservatory roofing service from Stockport Joinery. Enquiries use the main company’s existing form. Call the roofing enquiry number, 07940 787 149, to discuss your project.
Where can I see your work and customer reviews?
Our project gallery uses photographs from our own project collection. Customer reviews and the wider portfolio of kitchens, bathrooms and joinery are on the Stockport Joinery website. Those reviews cover the main company’s services, not only roofing.
